Gulf Islands New Beginnings is a joint venture between Salt Spring Literacy and Salt Spring Island Community Services. The program is funded through both the United Way of Greater Victoria and Community Donations.

Activities include:
SELF AWARENESS:

• vocational assessment and planning

• counselling

• skills development

COMMUNICATION:

• stress management

• conflict resolution

• social thinking

JOB SEARCH:

• work assessment

• job readiness

• interview skills

• resume writing

• placement assistance

Eligibility criteria require that an individual be at least 16 years old, unemployed or under-employed, and have a substantial barrier to employment. In addition, the individual must be able to benefit from Vocational Rehabilitation services.
